Crankshaft sensor

Just spoke to Vauxhall Bury St. Edmunds re crank sensor .....

I was told £76 to diagnose and £152 to fit + the cost of the sensor ...... is this for real ??

Surely it just plugs in ?

If you crank sensor has gone or going it will put codes up mate.
Crank sensors are around £50 from Vauxhall and take around half an hour to fit yourself :y
There is in the Maintence section how to fit crank sensors and also how to read your codes.

Jesus, thats BS man. Took me about 15mins to replace and that was re-routing the wiring!!!!!

True or false ?

Possible.....but not a given!

Read the codes as per this guide to see if you have a code 19 stored

When mine went, it was reporting no fault (which was a pain in the ....)

Square plug part nş 90492006 £58.90 + VAT on TC
Oval plug part nş 90492061 £42.80 + VAT again on TC

I know as my friendly stealer sold me both types on the basis i could bring the one i didn't use back for a refund!  Mine was the oval plug, cheaper one.

About 45 mins to swap.

what a laugh!  for that money just buy the part and fit it yourself. If VX had half a brain they would know the diagnosis costs more than the part - anyway you can read fault codes with a paperclip

you should get trade club prices from the parts department because andyc on here works there.  PM him for more info.

Or if you really don't want to do it... Come to Woodbridge and I'll do it for you! Also, he you have the metal type (square plug IIRCC) I have oof here you can have for about £50 as I haven't had a chance to take it back!

Like an idiot I opened the packet instead of checking the plug first! :-[ :-[ :-[ ::) ::) ::)

To get the part, speak to a member here, andyc, work works in parts dept of your dealers - he'll ensure a good price for the part.

Hopefully someone can confirm, I thought all the 3.0l took the same sensor, which was the cheaper of the 2 types.

I know EPC is wrong using filters for this part, so beware!

Mine took the cheaper one... Unfortunately the system said I needed the other one so I had to get a Bosch one from a factors!

90492006 is the square plug/metal end type which I believe is usually fitted on older Omegas - mine is a 98 and took oval plug type - part nş 90492061 - the cheaper of the two!
