URGENT HELP PLEASE: Got Idle problems now
« on: 27 August 2008, 19:49:02 »

Please help... Had crank sensor warning signs the last few days and changed it yesterday but... Since changing it I've had major problems...

Paperclipped it and got 57... Idle control valve - cleaned it
now getting 73 - MAF sensor???

The cr desn't idle at all ad cuts out if you let the revs get below about 1700.

I've got to get 260 miles home tomorrow and I'm having real concerns now!

Could the fact thet I've routed the sensor wre differently i.e. up the wing between brake pipes aand by cable tidy (near HT lead) be interfering????

Someone please help me!!!!

I'm still getting code 19 but I think this is now historic but not sure!

I'll be checking in here again in about an hour or so and I hope someone can shed some light for me???

you haven't managed to get ICV and inlet valve 2 round wrong way?

Though sounds more like an airleak to me...

Nt sure what you mean TB?????

Was origionally leaking air around the breather box but got new o ring tody and it doesn't appear to be leaking any more... Also can't find any vac pipes off and can't find it with WD40 test either.

I think I'll check the sensor again tomorrow... Perhaps I didn't get it in far enough???

Runs like a dream over about 1700 rpm but seems to be missing dreadfully below that.

Didn't disconnect them until after changing sensor... I did lift the plenum and slide it forwards to help access but not sure if that's it... It sat back down lovely and doesn't seem to be leaking.

Incidentally... I don't think it's HT related because it's the same on petrol or LPG

Would have agreed if it didn't run so well under throttle... :-/ :-/

I'm still thinking along the lines of either airleak or interference

Found it! Pinched an o ring under the plenum! Just sent SWMBO to get a new set so hopefully that'll sort it!

Problem sorted... Was an air leak initially but I managed to bugger my ICV when hunting for problems... Big thanks to Dan (ilovemyelite) for being a genuine guy and getting a replacement in the post to me so quickly :y :y :y :y

Normal service has now been resumed!!! The drive back from Yorkshire with a car which doesn't idle properly and cuts out when off the throttle was not the best drive of my life ::) ::) :o :o
