xenon HID lights?????
« on: 03 September 2008, 22:44:46 »

Just bought a 2.5 CDX and the off side headlight has gone off, with "Headlight side light check" come up on the display. Halfords say it has to be looked at by a VX agent and will cost £100. Is this right???? :-X

If its just the bulb thats gone you can change it yourself. just make sure you disconnect the battery and leave it to stand for 10 minutes before going in ... the HID voltages are very high.

A D2S HID bulb is around £70

HID lamps are not something that you could be expected to change at the side of the road, although I agree it needs sorting ASAP

Yes indeed. I think I payed £36 for a pair of 6000K ones which makes them cheap enough to buy a spare set as well!

Hi,
I bought a PAIR off e-bay for £13 odd + £7.50 P&P from Hong Kong.

The bulbs you need are D2S  4300K These are as original, but there are others higher K that are more blue light

Look on e-bay for member everydigital

Mine arrived in 4 days and are perfectly OK. Although unmarked, they are made at same factory as Philips bulbs.

Andy, how do these cars get round the european laws of having to carry spare bulbs, and the ability to change at the side of the road.
I was led to believe it was mandatory in some european countries.

Just curios.
