check oil level

Over the last week or so the check oil level pops up every now and again so i have checked the oil at least 3 times and on the dipstick,it looks fine its in between full and empty closer to full really!!could i have a fault sensor ::)any advice please :y

I had a Vectra which did the same. Bought a new sensor and that didn't solve it. I traded it in for the Omega and then read somewhere that sometimes the oil pick up strainer gets baked oil inside it thus reducing the oil pressure. Sometimes the oil light would come on on the dash, just a flicker on tickover. A bit worrying though when on the motorway and Check Oil Level comes on!! :o

regular oil changes if its been neglected on the servicing. When i got myn, with vx history, it had not had an oil change for 14 months, and started a top end lazy lifter rattle. All on here said change the oil. But more regularly than the service schedule! 2 or 3 changes at 2or3k intervals, the new oil will dissolve any deposits rather than a flush which will drop it all into the sump all at once and possibly block the pick up.
 Having said all that, in this case, the mig will warn of oil low before is gets dangerous.
It is just a good idea to run it on max. Cooler engine, the oil will last longer, and in this case, it should stop the warning coming up! hth.

Let the engine stand for 5 minutes when hot, then check the dip stick, top up back to maxium  ;)

I have the same and found that it happens when the oil filter gets older.  Unless I am wrong the oil goes through the filter before returning to the sump and when the filter is old I guess it flows through slower thus causing the sump level to drop.  Then when you stop the engine and wait 5 mins the level is ok....  just my guess as I get the same thing  :-/

Mine turned out to be a dodgy connection to the oil level sensor. You will find it driver's side, wheel side of the sump at the joint to the engine. Remove connector, clean everything off and clip it back into position. Job's a good 'n.
