long metal rod, where does it go?

i wanted to change my bulbs behind the heater controls, so after reading the manual i set about it, in the manual it  says the facia for the switches is held by a sprung rod as indeed chris [MUTANTCAV] showed me today [we were drowned ;D], i rummaged about in the radio hole, found a rod & gave it a little tug,,,,ooooops! wrong rod >:(, i now have a rod just over a foot long with a thread on one end & a hook on the other & cant see where it goes or what it does, then to add insult to injury i discovered that my facia is held in different as it doesnt have A/C,[4 screws behind knobs], so could somebody please tell me what this rod does or how to refit it....cheers!

Wow mate, living up to the unlucky bit eh??

On the plus side, just sorted out another estate with leather so now have a spare black leather interior :)

yup chris i certainly am :(, i thought sod it & put everything back minus the rod, i can feel where it goes but can see sod all! as for the leather hmmmmm! ive just dribbled all over my keyboard, oh & looked at that bonnet & its got quite a few stonechips :'( looks like i`ll be doing some feathering out then! :y

Maybe I should have given you the gold one instead...wrong gold anyway lol Dont have a clue what rod it is...

Would say the leather is warm and cosy but its probably freezing its ass off in the garage...needs a good home to go to :)
