engine cutting out
« on: 07 September 2008, 15:24:03 »

Hello, I am new to this forum, I own a 2.5 CDX manual running on LPG.
My biggest problem and worry is the engine cutting out an dawkward to start again when cold and wet.
My friend who owns a 2.0 omega says the main problem is the crankshaft position censor.
The cutting out is the same when running on LPG or petrol.
I have owned the omega since Feb this year and I was looking forward to towing my caravan but dare not do so while this problem exists

Easiest and cheapest thing to check/fix is the Idle Control Calve which clogs up with crud.  And clean the breathers.  There are guides on how to do both these tasks in the Maintenance guides and is relatively straightforward, even if you are not used to handling spanners.

I would suggest doing this first then reporting back before condemning anything else...   :y

Probably the ICV - remove and clean with carb cleaner, lightly oil (3 in 1) and refit. Had this on mine and it cured it.

Breathers - look here http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152598350
