Thanks for all your replies and suggestion on this, was all resolved today when i fitted a new dis pack today, £75 inc delivery from a vauxhall specialist (what a Lady bits of a job! ) all running fine now

Bit late now but don't get a secondhand one - there's no good way to test them and they do fail with age.

A lot of the Ebay sellers sell the Bosch part (which is what Vauxhall use) for around £75. Just make sure you get the right one.
