Ok, if you look at the last pic I posted above, you will see that I have placed an allen key in an indent on the swith......slacken off the two bolts securing the switch to the box and rotate the switch asembly (it has some adjustment) until you can do the same.
Mark, Made sure indents were lined up prior to tightening bolts but what I did notice was the inner sleeve with the two flat sides was cracked would that cause the problem.

Possibly as it could affect the alignment.

Check the linkage alignment first also....

Set selector lever to "P". Wiggle the prop shaft to ensure the parking lock is engaged. Loosen the fastening bolt which is in the horizontal part of the linkage. Press the lever on the gearbox rearwards and re-tighten the bolt.

Now reset the switch position

Out to do it now. Post back later.

Mark, Stripped switch again gave it another good polish with Brasso. Linkage adjustment ok. I`ve now got;
In "P" "N" lit trans locked will start
In "R" "N" lit rev. engaged will start
In "N" "N" lit neutral engaged will start
In "D" "N" lit autodrive engaged will start
In "3" "N" lit gear engaged will start
In "2" "D" lit gear engaged WONT start
In "1" "3" lit gear engaged WONT start
Do you reckon switch is stuffed :-/

It's gone the other way...the crack is possibly refusing to let it move in the "towards park" direction from what i've read..

Hi Phil, As I seem to be getting variations on start/select does it suggest that the switch is possibly stuffed. Just took it out for a spin and in Drive it won`t engage overdrive now just 1,2,3 :-/

It sounds to me like it is adjusting succesfuly....

Right, what we need to do is get that switch set correctly to the gearbox (which is what it is effectively monitoring).

So, disconnect the link arm from the box and set the switch up as this should then correctly correlate to the box.

Now fit the link arm and setup that up.

pls asure me which way to follow because my car autobox is leaking since months but the car did not give ay sign that autobox is lacking oil.

Chris, Just come in from bu**ering about with it again. Managed to snap bolt in the selector linkage rod where you adjust. :'( I think where the inner sleeve on switch is cracked I can`t get a positive set up on it. Don`t suppose you got the linkage rod, bolt and retaining clip have you. I`ve just about given up on it so methinks I should try another switch. Pm me with a total price inc. switch but I would need it posted tomorrow. (Still waiting for rear shelf etc) :(
