Help please,leccy rear blind
« on: 22 September 2008, 20:33:59 »

i got a gls with no rear leccy blind but i have got the switch in the dash for it,so i went off to my local vaux breakers today and picked a blind up,got it home and stripped the interior to fit it and noticed theres no plug/loom in the boot to connect it up :-[,i took the switch out to see if theres any wires running into the back and yep ther wires are there,so......how do i wire the leccy blind in?i was thinking that there might be a loom from the rear of the switch down to the foot well with a plug on the end and am rather hoping that i can go back to the scrappys and get the loom from the boot but its a 90 mile round trip,is this the case that i can get the loom, plug it into the the blind and run it through to another plug running from the back of the switch?thats what i'm hoping for,i know vauxhall looms are normally universal and carry the plugs for all the optional extra's and was shocked to find theres nothing in the boot for the blind,or is the plug hidden out of sight?many thanks in advance,Chris.

If its not there, it needs 0v, ign 12v and a wire from the switch.

yup i'm surprised as well cos normally vauxhall use the same looms throughout the range to save the expense of having different looms for different specs,a bit gutted to be honest as i was hoping to get it working tomorrow and i'm hopeless at electrics so no idea how to hard wire it in.

Some looms aren't fitted, for example the leccy seat loom.  Thought the blind one was included though...

left hand side of boot, either just below or just above the shelf.

Blimey, yours would be the first I have seen without the wires!

1)Red - Connect to F20 (on a facelift car this can be found feeding the seat heating by the base of the B post)
2)Brown - Ov, connect to a convenient piece of metal!
3)Blue and red - Connect to pin 2 of the switch

0V is chassis ground so connect it to the car body work at a convenient point.

F20 is a fuse....but as said its easily found by the passenger or drivers seat as it also feeds the seat heaters (assuming the wiring for these is there!).

Realy surprised you cant find the loom, it is normaly taped to the main loom at the back left of the boot high up.

when i disconnected the plug when taking the shelf out at the scrappys i made a mental note of where the plug was, when i got home its defo not there, theres no split in the main loom for it to exit from and go to the shelf, the only other loom that leaves the main loom in the same place as where the blind loom should be is for the fuel sender, its a strange one eh,the mig has got wires going into the base of the seats and the switches in the dash for the heated seats so fingers crossed it should'nt be too much of a problem.
