Central locking problem
« on: 30 September 2008, 22:13:28 »

Looking for more help guys and gals.
It regards the central locking on my 2000 omega estate.
1) the passenger door does not lock or unlock with the remote or when I push drivers locking button from the inside.
2) periodically the passenger door will not unlock via the locking button
but if left for about 1/2 hour. the door will unlock with the button.
3) one of the remotes will not work at all
4) The button that does work will work only when you are a couple of feet away from the car (vituually right next to car to unlock) wont work in any more than 2 yards away from car  (couldnt find the car in a crowded car park)
5) central locking doesnt lock/unlock with key.

anybody any Ideas

cheers

I had issues with my W plate a while back.  Turned out to be a tired locking solenoid and then a tired battery.  I got the feeling the weak battery was highlighting the tired solenoid, but £5 for a solenoid from a scrap yard wasn't too bad.

NOTE - facelift locking solenoids are different to pre-facelift.  The connectors are round on the pre-facelift ones and square on the later ones.  Why they changed them??? beats the hell out of me!

Cheers

Have changed remote battery to no avail. still have to be right up to car before activating locks. Will remove door card at weekend and check solenoid
