Quick tip for alloy stuck wheels
« on: 06 October 2008, 19:53:13 »

Hi Guys.
Just a quick tip for removing Alloy Wheels that are stuck on, I was chatting to one of the guys who spent hours hitting the tyres with a hamer, Heres all you have to do. Boil a kettle of hot water, go and pour it over the alloys around the centre hub, the alloy will expand ever so slightly and the wheel should just drop off.  no hammering and frustration

Or undoo the bolts a turn ()one turn only, mind...) then drive and do an emergency stop.  Should be just enough free play to allow the wheel to free from the hub.  Dont drive too far or too fast - the wheels only held on by a wish, remember.....   :y

Worth knowing...had one stuck fast the other day...crow bar between and behind the spokes using the brake hub as a pivot point worked in the end where all amount of hitting the thing had failed!
