Rear bumper - Chrome trim
« on: 09 October 2008, 10:04:47 »

My rear bumper was recently attacked (the bollard came out of nowhere  :-[) and the result is the chrome trim being a little bent out of shape.

Can anyone tell me how much a new chrome strip would be and where might I get one from? Or am I better off removing the rear bumper and taking the existing strip off and working it back into the right shape?

 :)

good luck if you try and straighten it, youll probably end up making it look worse... not too sure if vauxhall still supply them but they come in three section near side, offside and there is one piece centre section,, on my 98 plate miggy i had about 18 months ago, the nearside section was bout £30 with centre section costing bout £35 with Vauxhall oredering them and being available next day, mine was creased when i brought the car i tried to starighten it but its quite fragile and mis shapes easily.... looked like a right balls up when i had finished with it so got new ones.

Hope this helps

Cheers Steve,

That's my worry, it'll end up looking even worse than it does at the moment so a new strip might be in order. I'll enquire with the locel VX place and see how much they're going for these days.

Get a second hand bumper, even if its bent on the opposite side to your one, then swap the bits over.

The coloured panel unclips, so if the black plastic on your one is also damaged you can swap this over aswell.

Its what i did  :)

Actually if its the offside or middle i 'might' still have the chrome bit off my old one

Bought the larger centre section a few months ago from VX,( I also had a bollard move in the road and hit the back of my car ) and it was £19=15 ex vat..part number 90509530.
Bit of a pig to fit, much easier with entire bumper off as you  can,t get the metal tags to fold flat to secure it othrewise.
