I'd think that your lack of lights will be down to the sparks you saw in the main light switch. There are quite a few 'dash lights' and it would be unlikely that they've all failed at once. It''' be the rotary dimmer in the switch that's Donald Ducked, try opperating it back & forward a good few times.
