hi all i have a 2.2 facelift estate petrol.
currently suffering from lack of power especially on hills or towing small trailer. all usual jobs just done. timing belt kit,water pump,exhaust,throttle body strip and breathers,cam cover gaskets and full service. yes i have been busy.
car has done 74000. also now and then feels like engine has been switched off for a second but is still running. no missfires or warning lights but feels like it is a 1.6.
any advice please.  andy

When you did the cambelt, did you get it one tooth out?
Easy to do if you've not done many, and can make a difference.

Also, check that there are no vacc leaks.

If all checks out well, just remind yourself it's a 4 pot engine in nearly a 2 tonne car, and get a V6

change plugs, esp. if they are brown at the base of insulator. Had a 2.0 ltr the other day, it was fine just following traffic, but boot it and would stutter through the rev range. 40k max for plugs ive read on here. If not look at leads for splits in the rubber boots both ends and cracked lead, oil in plug wells and dis pac. for cracks or bits of plastic missing. Clean cam sensor as well, might help.

You can't paperclip a 2.2, has to be tech2 plugin.

What do you mean 1 tooth out :-?

Surely timing would be out if pulley marks were misaligned with timing marks on casings. :-/
