Central Locking
« on: 14 October 2008, 13:32:04 »

Hi I'm another newbie to the site so here goes.  I have an Omega  2003 V6 Cdx saloon, the central locking on the drivers door is sticking.  It will only operate by using the key, the other doors lock/open no problem, any ideas please?

Thanks for your help (I think). Not being the handiest of persons when it comes to wielding screwdrivers and spanners, I have booked it in to my local Vauxhall dealer who informed me that it is quite a straightforward job, will only take the morning and a £150.45p of my cash!!

Wow !!! is that just for one door as well ??

Arn't the solenoids only about £25 to £30, £150 seems a little steep to me, I think I would be getting a quote from somewere other than a dealer for a job like that !

I'd start learning if you don't know anywhere cheaper than Vauxhall! ;D
There's a guide to removing door cards (somewhere) on the forum. Nothing about the job is particularly difficult - apart from steming the blood flow after you've tried to get normal sized hands into the little holes in the door!  ;D
£150 would buy you A N Other lock motor and the tools to fit it. Have you tried a dousing of lubrication - in the door  ;)  :y

I just did mine, and the job was under an hour, it is a very simple job, the only thing you may need to buy is a T40 torx bit.

The solenoid is quite cheap, but an hour at a maindealer is still an hour at the main dealer!

Had mine (driver's door) done today.....£56+vat part and £42+vat labour (1 hour)....seemed reasonable to me :)
