would a blocked cat attribute to poor running issues?????

Any blockage in the exhaust gas flow will cause problems, IMHO it's unlikely to be the cats do the the way they are constructed .. more likely to be the back box which has a great tendency to split internally and send loads of wadding out the back .. looks like horsehair/wirewool .. :(

This can even cause eml warnings as the gas flow is so badly disrupted . :(

This happened on the old 2.5 .. new exhaust and everything was back to normal . :y :y :y

Simple answer is yes.
But miggys have there own qwerks,with blocked breathers that can lead to rough running and oil leaks.
Please update you profile so we can see what car you have and where you are.

Cats cant be blocked easy..But other parts of exhaust do..As Entwood said..

I must have read tens of thousands of posts. I have not once read a thread where a cat got actually got blocked. In fact, the only time I have heard of it was a Cataclean advert on selly telly....

If you are worried about your cats - leave it in third for a blast at 80 on the motorway for 10 miles a few times. The chemistry of cats makes them self cleaning - they just need lots of heat to work (more than 600°C)

I had a blocked cat once in my mk5 escort. Half the honeycomb broke free and rotated 90 degrees  :-[

All those bl@@dy speed humps they peppered the roads with through keele uni!  >:(

funny you should say that - my mate Mike had a blocked cat on his escort, same reason.

I once had a cat fall apart and become blocked on a Pug 406 1.8 Estate. At the time I was only around 19 and didn't have much of a clue about such things, so I ended up paying £350 or so at ATS for a pattern cat :'(

So far the Omega ones have been reliable for me, it's usually the cat back exhaust system that rots first....

lol might be worth spraying some carb cleaner into the idle control valve.. there's a small airway that gets blocked and causes the bad idling problems

right.....

the car is running like a dream now....

the number 3 lead was arcing out somewhere....

swapped it and all is well now.
