Breather Jet Snapped
« on: 19 October 2008, 19:14:21 »

Was doing well today - changed the thermostat and the cam cover gasket, then decided to clean out the breather pipes and jet. Managed to clean both - But Oh dear - Got a bit carried away tightening it up and the jet snapped, so now I have to take the intake manifold off so I can try and extract whats left.  :'(

Any pitfalls I need to be aware off?

Will Vauxhall still sell breather Jets or is it a scrapyard job?

Has anyone else been as cak handed?

I think scrappy is your best bet.  I tried to replace a fuel pipe on my 2.0 which had , hum.. sprung a leak, all of a sudden like..,  and they couldn't source it in the dealers.  Maybe worth asking though.

They should be able to get you the breather jet at the dealers.  They have a picture of the engine on their computers which is split up into all the different parts and you should be able to pick it out.

I must admit they did get the first pipe I ordered wrong.  When I brought it back asking for a refund they told me that that was the pipe I ordered and the one I wanted was only available on a Vectra engine.  This was clearly nonsense as the cam cover breather pipes are identical.

Anyways you should still be able to get it at the dealers and you would be better to get it new as that particular jet corrodes very easily so a second hand one may be a bad idea.

Thanks for the reponses.

I've ordered one from the dealer - circa £20 - hopefully it'll turn up tomorrow - if it goes no back order then I'll have to try and source a second hand one.

I've still got to get the broken part of the old one off alas - work comes first so it probably won't be unitl later in the week.
