Fire extinguisher
« on: 20 October 2008, 16:07:36 »

It is a requirement in Qatar to have a fire extinguisher mounted in your vehicle. Has anyone come across this and know where the fire extinguisher is supposed to be mounted in the mig?

Unfortunately can't pass the MOT here without a mounted fire extinguisher in the car.  :'(

Does anyone have a fire extinguisher in their car?  :-/

So do I, but it is not the best way to do this.

It should come sideways under the drivers seat, bolted to the floor. I just didn't fancy drilling the car. This way you can use it while still seated, or leave the car and grab it on your way out.

It's not my car, just some info I found on the Internet. I was considering doing it in my car, but decided not too, because I did not want to drill holes in the floorpan. But this is how it is done in motorsport, and this is how I would have done it if I decided to go ahead with this.

when i was a cab driver we also had to have an extinguisher, i mounted mine on the rear of the back seat with 1 screw through the bracket, going on where you are it might be an idea to have it in the shade to keep it cool, the boot seems to be the obvious place.

Let them burn!

Small fire, extingusihed by you....Insurance say elec fault, its your repair.

Small fire, grows to big one, destroys car - insurance pay out.

The fire extinguisher is in now. Got it mounted in the passenger footwell opposite side to the door. Still fair amount of room in the footwell. It won't go under the seat as it restricts the seat from moving forward.
