Just my opinion .. but 2 tonne of car with around 200 BHP relies on 4 small patches of rubber to keep you alive ... it is NOT worth risking my life for a few quid .. so I NEVER put cheap rubber on a car.

The idea of retreads or 2nd hand is abhorent to me, even on SWTSMBO little clit shopping cart .. she also relies on those 4 little patches of rubber .. as do all the pedestrians and other road users.

CEM, hello there, you are looking at the GOODYEAR site, not known for showing how good the competitors are!!!!!!
The test results on Mytyres are independant test by 'Reifen Test.com'.

As Entwood said "Not only you, also consider pedestrians"..

For the Good Year site..

Assume a scenario that "Good Year , Bridgestone, Mitchelin, Continental" make the same stupidy and sell their crap tires for a high price ;D

thats not logical..These firms every year make millions of investment on research..

I know what you meen but dont fancy paying £600.00 for driving around town. High motorway speeds would be different though

Don't go on an airplane then - Aircraft tires routinely receive 12 or more retreads before they are discarded.

I have just spent 38 years flying aircraft .. and I can tell you for a certainty that the construction methods and use of aircraft tyres are so different to car tyres that the comparison is futile.

I will give you a simple example .. an aircraft tyre is DESIGNED to accelerate from stationary to a rotational speed equivalent to 180 mph in less than .5 of a second ... I doubt a car tyre could handle that ... but aircraft tyres would fail dramatically if required to corner at anything like the speed a car corners. They are as different as an F1 tyre is to a road tyre.

I certainly wouldn't pay to have 2nd hand tyres put on.  I am wary of tyres that are on if I buy a 2nd hand car, thought wouldn't change them if no signs of damage.

The MV6 in particular runs on premium rubber - I make too much demand of them.

Okay - valid points about the differences, a  poor comparison - however car retreads are speed rated the same as new car tyres - so they must be meet the same or equivalent standards as the new tyres.

I wouldn't trust 2nd hand - but I would trust re-treads.

Re-treads of today are not like the old re-moulds of the seventies and eighties which were only speed rated to 60mph
