Screenwash Message
« on: 18 October 2008, 09:31:28 »

Hi All,

Sorry if its been posted before, I did a quick search and didnt appear to find anything.

Picked up my Omega last night :) and after the usual check brake's message comes up and goes after pressing the pedal, im greeted with the screen wash low (or similar message) I checked and indeed the screenwash was empty, I put a couple of litres in, but the message is still there. Is there any way to clear it? Or is it a case that I didnt put enough fluid in?

you can clear it by using the trip/screen functions. Press the button on the wiper stalk and it will clear. As to why the warning is coming up, never had the issue, but presumeably there is a level plunger in the bottle, maybe its stuck/full of gunk, the bottle can grow white gunge if screen wash is not used. Maybe stick the hose in the bottle as far as it will go and blast it out, let it over flow to get as much crap out as poss. Cant do any harm.

And be aware that the Omega wash bottle takes six and a half litres to fill, so a couple of litres might not be enough to come up past the sensor.  Fill it to the brim and see what happens.

Thanks for your speedy response guys :)

Looking through the manual last night I did see the capacity of the tank is rather large, and I may not have put enough in.

When I get home il fill it, then report back.

Finally found a minute to go out and have another look at this. I put another 3/4 litres in (I still didnt brim it, as I ran out of screenwash!) and this seems to have done the trick, so obviously I didnt put enough in before.

Thanks all.

Don't just use water - use the recommended concentration of screenwash (even in summer).  You get a horrible white sline grow in the water, now the screen washer jets have a gauze (which just blocks), but headlamp washers don't, and this white stuff gets in the headlamp washers are clogs them, with no recourse but replacement
