Codes
« on: 22 October 2008, 04:58:57 »

Having probs with bad runing have just rechecked the codes and came up with

0303  or 0302

0300
0304

would this mean that this would mean a missfire on the same bank looking to change the plugs later today.

What do you think

P0303 Cylinder 3 Misfire Detected

Exactly what work did this guy do to your car recently?

Had rocker cover gasket changed on both sides and also oil cooler . When they did the job they used the put the same plugs back in which have done about 20k .

Just happen on the A46 last night on the way back from yours .Car feels like it going to cut out but does not also when pulling away feels like it is stutering then picks up. Starts fine 1st time but with a lower idle

1, 3 and 5 cylinders are drivers side bank 2. 4 and 6 are pass side. It helps to know exact code to identify which side of the engine to look at. Tbh i would be inclined to take the car to Mr Dtm if your anywhere near and hes not too busy. I for one would not trust your other mech who re used old plugs after Cam cover failure. They are only 8 quid each ,or something, from vx.

:o About 2 or 3 quid each from a stealer last time I bought IIRC.

I would check the plug wells haven't filled with oil again, that the rubber boots on the coil packs are clean and not still contaminated with oil and may as well change the plugs TBH, while you've got it apart.

Thanks All

Will get it done and let you know how things go.

Do the coil packs on the 2.6-3.2 go that much ?.

Think the plugs are best and not to much cost....fingers crossed :-/

Coil packs are a doddle to change, just couple of torx bolts, and leccy loom connector, then just lift out.

Be sure its the coil pack though, was there any oil in the plugs?

Something does not add up here.

Coil packs dont just both fail simultaneously (you have codes for both banks!)

Sounds like it could be an air leak or similar....

As MrDTM says, check for some air leaks, one coil pack failure is possible, but not both at the same time.

Do you have any other codes? - MAF sensor?  :-/
