I've been toying around with the idea of swaping a 2.0 with a 2.5.
I'm just not sure if it can be done. I've had a good look around the car and all the fittings for a v6 are there. I am just wondering if the gearbox will fit and how long the job will take as they are my main worries. I can't buy a v6 as I am living in Ireland and they are extremely rare and overpriced. I also can't bring one over as a new emmision based scheme over here would mean 2000 euro road tax (bas***ds).
Btw. I had to bypass the heater matrix as it was leaking and when the new one arrived from ebay I just cut off the plastic clips and the piece of pipe stuck to them and simply sucured the pipe with a good old jublee clip.
lol funny you should say about swapping the 2.0 for 2.5.... im doing that atm arnt i chris? lol
it's not a bad swap but depends if your leaving it as standard 2.5 167bhp lump or changing cams and stuff.
the annoying heater matrix pipes have the quick release(or not so quick release as i found out) connectors on them but really you need to have the engine half way out to get in next to the bulk head to unclip/chop or remove them lol!
the gearbox needs a new bellhousing which means either get an ar25/35 off a v6 and then just put that gearbox on or take ur gearbox off and then undo the seven bolts on the inside of the bellhousing and do the swap that way.
the hardest/messiest bit was the coolant and also power steering reservoir! and the exhaust is a bugger to get off at the manifold/downpipe so i unbolted it after the cat lol
hope that helps.. allow a few days if your borrowing an engine hoist -it's taken about 3 days to undo all the crap round the engine and gearbox bolts then i had to move the 2.0 round to put the gearbox onto the 2.5 and it's going back in tomorrow evening!
