Cam cover gasket
« on: 22 October 2008, 12:11:05 »

Hi everyone.  Just wondering if there is anyone available that could help me replace a cam cover gasket?

I can drive anywhere really.

I've got a torx set and some other basic tools.

Smoke has started coming out from the sides of the bonnet so I think it needs doing soon but the mig drives fine.

I was going to get James to do it but can't afford it at the moment.

Well I just thought I'd ask as I know there are a lot of kind oofers out there. :y

Kate,

Chances are your plug wells are filling up with oil. Before you know it this will damage the plugs and the HT leads, if left. In turn, this can then cause misfires, which can harm the DIS pack, and technically if not sorted out poison the catalytic converter.

If you've got smoke coming out of your engine, also be careful you don't get any unwanted plod attention !

If you can't get anyone to help you more locally, give me a shout. I may have had a cancellation so could potentially fit you in quite quick :y

Thanks James.  :y

It's awful having money problems.  I've got a car that I love that needs urgent attention but no money to pay an expert like you to fix it.

I'll let you know what happens but there are hardly any oofers around my way to help.

I wish you were closer Kate as I would willingly help you to change them. 8-)

Are you sure you cannot do it yourself; it is quiet straightforward, but rather fiddly? ;)

Pm sent Kate.

I know I'm running a business but I also sympathise with your situation and as an OOF'er I don't like to think of you stuck with a faulty car, so I have an option for you.

Not for public knowledge, though  :-X  ::)

Thanks that's very nice of you!

Kent is so far away form here I know, I used to live in Gillingham.

James has kindly offered to do it for me at a good rate.

Well that's very kind of you to offer.

If James can't make it for some reason I might take you up on it. Thanks. :y

No probs. In all week from Monday. I have a TC card so can get you the parts cheaper. If you are coming down then best to let me know a day before if you want me to get the parts as my local VX don't often have much in stock and normally takes a day to arrive.

Well thanks for that but James is coming a week Saturday so hopefully won't need to bother you.
