Emergency - Jammed door!
« on: 24 October 2008, 13:46:01 »

Hi, there - hope somebody can help as out of ideas!

The Omega has always had an erratic passenger door lock - when the car is unlocked it occasionally locks/unlocks correctly but normally requires the interior button pressing or lifting.  Sometimes there is resistance, sometimes not.

Today it has refused to unlock at all, leaving me unable to open the passenger door - even with considerable force upward the button will not pull up, and there is of course no lock barrel.  I thought maybe it has stuck as deadlocked?  Obviously, can't get to it as I can't open the damned door to remove the card!

Any suggestions really welcome - need car for family trip at weekend and can't see the wife being happy climbing over centre console!

Many thanks  :-?

can you see any of the mechanism when the passenger window is all the way down?? not sure if there's some sort of solition you can get down it to free it, or the solenoid could be completely goosed

have you tried pulling on it while simultaneously pressing the open button on the fob??

Hi,
my mig had exactly same prob. turned out that no matter how I tried the door would not unlock. Funny thing is if tried then went back 20 mins later the thing would unlock easily the after a couple of locking actions, same again.   All I did was pour some lubricant down locking button left for 24 hours and tried again then it opened (oil must have found its way to mechanism and rods). Once open I lubricated the latch assy then it would lock/unlock ok manually. When I had more time, I found the problem was in fact the door latch mechanism was siezing and the strain burnt out the electric actuator. apparently quite a common fault if not lubricated.
Hope you have same success
