Help! engine imobiliser lights on!
« on: 10 November 2008, 18:19:40 »

Some sort of ''bug'' in the electrics? The imobilser sometimes sounds giving 4 chirps when turning the engine off. Also at odd times the alarm goes off when the engine is started. Most recently the engine imobilser warning light came on. I took the car to my local dealer who ''killed'' the light and said it could be caused by either a faulty cat. or O2 sensors? The O2 sensors were replaced recently due to contaminated petrol and the car is only 7 years old with 54k so the dealers discounted that as cause of the problem. The car is running perfectly with no loss of performance. I have the 3.2 Elite Estate 2001.Any ideas as why ; 1. the light came on. 2. why the alarm goes off on ignition. 3. why the ''chirpy'' sound all very strange

The bleeping and alarm problems are due to power sounder - plenty of info here, but basically unplug it and bin it.

The emissions light, seems to be common issue with 3.2, related to cat efficiency.  See Maintenence Guides and look for Paperclip test and Pedal Trick guide, and post the codes up :)
