help !
« on: 10 November 2008, 10:58:07 »

I have just changed the cam belt and tensioners, idler and aux belt and water pump. I reassambled the bits and refilled the coolant level in the header tank to cold level. It started fine and although tappety it revved well.

As i had the plenum off i took advantage of rerouting the coolant via the lpg vapourisor before it went into the HBV. . . .

I took the car out for a gentle spin and halfway down the road the spanner/car orange warning light came on and shortly after the car stalled. i managed to restart and drive back home a little way and it happened twice again before i could get it home.

I am unsure where to go from here - any ideas ? :-/

step 1, find out the fault codes.  look under the maintaince guide for paperclip test/pedal trick.  you want the latter on the 2.6

step 2, post the fault codes here and we can give you more help

chances are, it is something you disturbed when doing the work

Is it still running smooth?  i.e. is there any chance the belt could have slipped?

As above... But as a guess I'd say you've probably got an air leak around the plenum.

Just floor the throttle and brake and turn the ignition on and count the ECU light flashes.

Your car has a diagnostic built in, to a point, use the pedal trick as above. Foot on brake, gas pedal to the floor, turn on ignition to position 2. Do NOT fire the engine obviously. The car spanner symbol will flash. Constant flashing, no codes stored, 10 flashes is zero. 4 digit code only. Reads the engine ecu so dont worry about the your code reader for a minute. Get the car running first imho.

0325 - Knock sensor 1, drivers side.

It connects to the loom on the cable tray on the front of the cambelt cover.

Make sure its connected ok and make sure the loom is not near the aux belt (it can get damaged). Other possible is that its been trapped under the aux belt tensioner casting.
