2.5 refusing to start...
« on: 08 November 2008, 20:33:51 »

if anybodys looked in cars for sale/wanted then they'll know iv been a right brain stew spoon bender and posted a thread in there about my 2.5 which wont start...

it turns over fine and with throttle open fully turns over very fast but doesnt want to start....
the other day i sprayed carb cleaner in the throttle body and when i tried starting it a couple of mins after doing that it started and then died very quickly..

i'v changed the crank sensor and i'v also changed the timing belt as the tensioner was buggered(just put some used but in good condition belt and tensioners on) as a stop gap till the end of this month

do you think it's the spark plugs or do you think it's more likely the fuel?
i also had the multiram off at one point and some spray/gases sprayed out of the throttle body as it fired on one occasion- would that have been a backfire or something similar?
it has exhaust gases coming out when it's turning over at an increased speed which is only when you have the throttle open

can somebody help?
thanks

If the cranksensor is down- change it.
It reports to the ECM and with out that signal it aint gona start. :'(

already changed it though matey
it started briefly when i had sprayed carb cleaner into the throttle body which suggests no fuel getting in via injectors maybe?

OK. But the hall effect is the cranksensor ?
You need to check the if you have fuel pressure by turning on the ignition and loosening the high pressure fuel rail connection.
Or pressing the schrader type valve at the back of the plenum.

schrader type valve?
....well i'v changed the crank sensor so doubt it can be that, could try another one i have and see what happens- one of the two i have seen on a car running fine just for reference- i just thought it seemed odd that it actually started the other day when i'd sprayed carb cleaner in but refuses to start with just the fuel and cranking...

really i could do with the fault codes resetting :(

oh yeah... having just read the fault codes terms for 21... the throttle.p.s just tells the ecu how much boot your using

would it stop it starting?
and where is it :P
it's on a '95 2.5 so wouldnt have thought it had one tbh
thanks

I doubt if any thing will spurt out as its not even trying to start but you need tobe sure.
If nothing comes out check the fuel filter is on the right way around and it clear of crpa
If its fitted correctly and clear take a look at the fuel pump oppperation
