Facelift dualfuel 2.2 Runs really Badly on Petrol
« on: 18 November 2008, 15:56:01 »

My miggy runs terrible on petrol, lumpy tickover and doesn't respond to throttle, although on LPG it runs perfectly, where should i start looking, presuming its not ignition as LPG is ok....
Any clues or pointers please?

I'd say either the petrol injectors are getting a bit clogged due to running on LPG most of the time OR the fuelling on LPG is a little out, and it has "learned" this characteristic, so the fuelling goes the other way on petrol. Does it improve if you run it for a few journeys on petrol only?

petrol fuel filter in need of replacement?

I know a lot of lpg'ers keep their tanks very low, so may pick up more dirt?

At least there is no issue as how often do you need to use petrol!

Clogged injectors - shove some BP or Shell stuff through, possibly injector cleaner

Italian tune up - always helps

Not fuel filter as idle is bad

Clean breathers as well

Thanks guys,
Is that correct that if it idles rough as well, its not likely to be the fuel filter??
Could the EGR valve be a suspect, its blanked off but i do get an emissions light on every now and then?
When its being a real b@st@rd, you can put your foot down to pull away and nothing happens, it just chugs until it finally either dies or bursts into life

What sort of LPG system is it?

Mixer

SGI?

Give it a service including plugs and take it from there

Could be airleak
