I agree with the forcing the key in the Lock, my battery went flat and i could not get in, i thought if i forced it any more the key would break so i phone the AA.
He came out and just forced the key and pulled the handle and hey presto!

Sometimes brute force and ignorance is the answer

Forcing it hard is the correct answer.  I would personally use silicon spray lube rather than WD40 as I believe WD40 might corrode any rubber seals in there, whereas silicon makes them expand.  Thats what I've been told anyway.

Either that or act any local hoodlum...I'll bet they know a way in fast enough.

Hi, I had same problem with my lock, I tried and tried, then got into the car through the boot and drove the car to the garage. I felt a right prat ???? when the bloke said how easy it is and proceeded to open the door for me. Turn to the right (Clockwise) but very hard, it feels the key will snap but it does not. ...keep trying...good luck

Just to re-iterate, WD40 is NOT a lubricant!

i had this problem on my w reg facelift,it turned out the little bar from the barrel to the lock was off,but only found that out after having to break my grill to get the bonnet open to put jump leads on,for the next time the battery went flat, even with it deadlocked,i still managed to open it with the key. :)
