2.2 v 2.6
« on: 20 November 2008, 21:06:31 »

Guys,

Looking for some info please,i went today to look at a 52 plate 2.2 which although had only 50k on the clock was a bit of a pig...
The other one was gorgeous but a 2.6....also a 52 plate, with 46k

Both were a bit pricey at £2995 but im willing to pay for the right car.

What is the difference with the 4 pot and the V6, i dont mean performance wise but general running..

I know obviously the V6 will be more on fuel but what about insurance, maintenance, etc
The 4 pot is easy to work on and pretty straight forward, the V6 looks a different ball game all together...

Is there much in them?im not interested in how fast it goes TBH, i had a facelift 2.2 before and found it nippy enough for me.

I know any Omega is expensive enough overall but how much more would the V6 be overall when considering servicing, price of parts, insurance etc

Thanks in advance

Iain

Hard for me to say since I've never seen a four Pot Omega.

If it was me, I would have the 2.6... Mainly because of the sound of the V6  ;D, its low down torque and smoothness. I doubt there will be a great difference in fuel consumption. I’ve found that the trim level (ie gls / cd / cdx / elite etc) has as much difference with insurance prices, as the engine size does.  :-?

However servicing costs on the 2.6 will be more than the 2.2 four pot, As there’s a lot more engine there to work with (once you get to it!) ;D

Hope that helps Iain

Ian ;D

Highly unlikely that any omega is worth anything like that sort of money these days.

All cars need more cylinders than doors!!!! Buy the biggest engined, best spec'd car that you can afford. If you don't you'll always wish you had.  ::) :y :y :y

Told you the V6 bullies would be here soon. 4 pot owners are generally quieter  :-X

Although one of the reasons I had for owning a 2.2 was the cheaper tax - but even that's going up to the V6 league at £430

I had the 2.2 before,it was adequate without being particularly quick, but speed does not interest me now,i pretty much stick to the limits, especially with my boy in the car

Im more interested now in how much its going to cost! ;D

Just because we have a V6 doesn't mean we speed everywhere!  ;D

The V6's are not just On or Off you know  ;D ;D ;D (However I sometimes have to remind myself when im running late!)
