V6 Turns over will not start
« on: 24 November 2008, 18:49:51 »

My V6 stalled the other day whilst driving.  She will turn over but will not run.  :-/ I towed it home and have these two codes. PO411 - Secondary Air Injection System Incorrect Flow & PO455 EVAP Emission Control System Leak (Large).  Any sage advice would be greatly appreciated. :D

Cheers

Have you tried to disconnected the MAF. Mine did this last week, disconnected the MAF and car runs okay.

Worth a try

sounds like crank sensor to me. Although you have no code. How did you read the codes? With a reader? Or pedal trick? Neither of the codes you posted would cause the car not to start, imho.
See here for some explanations of the codes you have,

I have had both petrol pump and Crank Sensors go on my miggy. Most likely crank sensor but try a paperclip test again and hope for code 19. As a secondary test, if crank sensor is shot you should not get a spark when you crank engine. I tested mine for spark using an old timing light i had in the garage or i think Halfords do a spark plug tester.

There will be plenty more suggestions  from members to follow. Good luck. :y

I HAVE REPLACED THE CRANK SENSOR AS THAT SEEMED THE OBVIOUS PLACE TO START.  TRIED THE MAF TRICK SHE STILL JUST CRANKS AWAY.  I AM USING AN ACTRON CP9135 CODE READER.  I AM LEANING TOWARD THE PETROL PUMP.  I AM ASSUMING THAT AS I HAVE TO DROP THE TANK TO ACCESS THE PUMP IT IS WORTH CHANGING THE ENTIRE KIT PUMP, SENDING UNIT AND SCREEN?  HAS ANYONE HAD ANY LUCK WITH AFTER MARKET UNITS OR SHOULD I FIND THE BOSCH/ACDELCO OEM PARTS TO SAVE A LONG TERM HASSEL? :(

the fule pump can be accessed through a panel in the boot.

don't condem the pump untill you have tested it.  Try testing for fuel pressure by using the pressure bleed valve at the back of the plenum.  crank a few times, press the release.  crank again and press the release.  If you get fuel emerging, chances are the pump is running.  also get someone to turn thie ingition on and you listen from under the tank to hear if the pump is running.  My *guess* is that it is more likely to be something else other than the pump e.g. relay

EDIT i think the catera may not have the access paned in the boot
