Just taken the car out and seem to be getting a squleing from the front of the engine sounds around the aux belt  area. I have replace the belt 3 months ago and looks fine. Car drives fine also

Anyone have any pointers on where to start looking.

belt slipping or buggered tensioner pulley bearing? Is it in line with engine revs? If not secondary air pump maybe?

Yes does seem inline with revs  checked the belt looks ok  is there a fuse that i can pull to disconect the  air pump.

If not anyone near leicester with a spare tensioner pulley and 1/2 an hour to spare as that could be likely

Secondary air is not fitted on a 3.2.

I would take the aux. belt off and give it a run for a few seconds (water pump won't be working!) just in case it's not the cam belt. I hope it's not anything to do with the cam belt.

I seem to recall we found a pretty tired aux. belt tensioner on that, and replaced it with a "slightly better but not wonderful" one at Telford. Maybe it's getting ropey?

Yes good point that could be it ...Just been out and checked wiped down the belt lubed up the moving parts checking none on belt started car and runing sweet now .

Will have to get a spare tensioner just in case. Are they easy to fit from what i recall at Telford did not look to bad.

I've got the same problem which is made worse with the lights and heater on. I know its not the same car but i've just ordered a new belt for mine.

I can't stop the belts sounding ropey on Mrs. KW's MX. They are tight but still squeak when cold.

All my neighbours know when I set off to work in the mornings by the scream of my 'fan belt' on the diseasal Astra.

Surely it's just the bearing/actuall roller that requires replacememt rather than the sprung part of it. You just need a 15mm socket spanner to remove the roller/bearing. The sprung part of the tensioner is only 2 bolts but harder than just the roller to remove.

Thank for the tip just removed the wheel and regreased the  bearing not a bad job lots of greas and no noise . Will take you up on that Mark pm sent.
