CD Seats/Fogs in a GLS
« on: 08 December 2008, 17:13:47 »

Trashed my Omega last night (animal = slight swerve + ice = Ditch) and seen a few GLS's for sale. Just wondering if I can put my heated seats and fog lights into a GLS. Basically is the wiring there to take it or would I have to do a lot of messing around?

depends on age, altho the gls wont have the MID (multi info display, eg. ful consumpt) even if it does have the wiring for the seats and fogs, best things to look for when buying a gls for upgradability are:

1: connector on drivers front strut top (under bonnet) for the cruise
2: cheekily pull out the blanks above the stereo and see if there is pins in the holes for the seats, blind etc etc
3: check in boot cubby in behind the fuel cap for the cd changer loom
4: up under the shelf in the left corner for the blind loom

if it has all that then its safe to say it will work the fogs aswell.

I know from experience that 1997 gls models onwards generally dont have the loom for the toys, some 95-96 gls models did

TRY b4 you buy is all I can say  :y

Oh well :(. I dont have a choice really, there are no omegas around here in my budget (upto £1k) which are cd/cdx, and where we live means we need a car so cant wait for the "right" car  :-[

even if it doesnt have the wiring for the fogs you can still fit them, will make the car look a bit better and at least you wont get hauled for "mistakenly" putting them on when its not foggy lol

as for heated seats, if you cant get them to work, wear thermal Y's  ;D ;D ;D ;)

Do you want a saloon or an estate or not care? I have a 98 2.0 auto estate CDX here with MOT till June 09 and tax till end of month...few bumps (all on areas that can easily be replaced) but cheap and I'm sure I can get it to you...its got fogs, cd changer etc already...pm if interested :)

1k will buy you a lot of Omegas!  What sort of age are you looking at?

1k would certainly persuade me to part with either my beloved tractor Elite or my beloved MV6.  I'm sure you could get even better deals than that!

Don't do it! Your anecdotes prove that you love BMW engines to an extent of distraction. ;)
