converted my heaters,now their hot
« on: 10 December 2008, 16:29:31 »

hi to all with crap heaters, iv done away with the heater bypass valve, now got hot heaters, ;D its a bit fiddley but got there, some might say why not just fit new valve, but i fancied a challenge,,and havent got to think about another cheap plastic, nogood crap item, going wrong again,i also changed dis pack while i was that far into it,not that my original one was faulty, just precautionary               took top hose direcct from engine, bottom hose, bit more work, because 2 pipes to deal with, used a t,piece in copper pipe.to join up now got bottom pipe,to join up to bottom hose water rail, refitted heater hoses 50/50 antifreeze ran up to temp, mine hits 95 then fans kick in,heaters now hot, front, and rear,at last.let vehicle stand, for awhile no leaks, drove home, heaters working fine, left for a while and checked level, all is ok ;D ;D ;D ;D

What did you do about the vacc pipe?

How does it affect the aircon? (you may not tell until summer!)

the vacpipe i teed into another pipe, which works,as,for my air con i dont use it ,i open my sunroof or window .plus when youve got aircon on it scoffs fuel
Aircon is cheaper to use tha having the sunroof and windows open after a certain speed and if you've removed the HBV you will have constant heat.

Pointless.....could have been done without removing the valve I suspect and given that so much is vac operated....what other things are not working.

I for one would describe this as a bodge and would not recommend it to anybody

its worked for my car, and yes i can assure everthing works, ive been mending trucks and buses for 28 years, all iv done,is take something away that gives so many problems,in the first place.you just need to look at it in a open mind, that is the way millions of vehicles on the road is set up ,directly in to matrix then out, so what is the difference in me doing the same, and no i dont think its a bodge at all. so many people have similar probs with there v6s they get told to try this and that sometimes at huge cost tofind there back at square one again so ill leave it be,,, mine works ;).

I'm afraid I agree with Mark... Bodge IMO and TBH more work than just changing the HBV itself :o :o ::) ::)

Not recommended by me  :-X :-X :-X

Surely though you will now have a permanantly hot interior, during the summer you'll not have the option for cold air cos you ave a hot heater matrix.

About 30mph IIRCC!!

TBH modern Air con makes very little to fuel economy anyway! Bet you waste more fuel with poor driving techniques than a/c would... I know I do!! ::) ::) :-X :-X :-[ :-[

like i said in one off my other posts, when i turn to cold it goes cold and vice verser, when u turn ur heaters to cold, where does the cold air come from, wake up fella and have a good look at ur omega ...its drawn through the pollen filter into the car, then ur fan distibutes it,simple,i u think its a bodge thats fine by me,thats your opinion, try it when ur heaters pack up,,and have to struggle with a cold car
