like i said in one off my other posts, when i turn to cold it goes cold and vice verser, when u turn ur heaters to cold, where does the cold air come from, wake up fella and have a good look at ur omega ...its drawn through the pollen filter into the car, then ur fan distibutes it,simple,i u think its a bodge thats fine by me,thats your opinion, try it when ur heaters pack up,,and have to struggle with a cold car[/quote]

But you don't, as you fit a new HBV! 8-) 8-)

About 15 years ago... Modern air con makes very little difference... Trust me, I've tried it many times in many cars! My 1989 Range Rover... Yep, noticeable difference! My 199 Omega, very little difference at all!

Each to their own  I suppose :o :o ::) ::) :-X :-X

I have to say, if i had no heat in my car, i would not much care how i got the heaters working tbh bugger that.
But presumably you discovered the hbv to be at fault, rightly by the sound of it, can you explane that process...how did you diagnose it? Or have i missed all that?

No evidence or tests carried out to prove the HBV was at fault....poor work, porr diag and a bodge.....and as you dont understand how teh vac setup works you ahev no way of knowing what else is not working like multirams, air injection, direction control flaps....

like other people say, that when u turn switch to hot, the vacc pipe switches over to allow hot water into matrix, when not switching over either prob with vacc pipe or valve u/s thats why iv done away with mine, and plumbed it direct, and as result nice hot heaters

It's cold at the moment and if he needs to refit an HBV in the summer he can.

It is a quick fix to get heat into a car.

As to aircon - better to use it to prevent seal leaks, and it barely effects economy as I found with the 2.0

I'm with Martin,  it may be a 'bodge' but i would'nt fancy playing with spanners in the current weather to properly fix it - would rather bodge quickly and wait until i could work in T-shirt & shorts to fully fix the issue

It takes twice as long to do this "bodge" as it does to change the HBV!

Is it a gls?(ac only not climate)
Hmmm, well your heat works most important, bloody dangerous with no visibility without heater in this weather. But, to me if you have to go and get the unions to bodge it, you may as well go and get an hbv to fix it proper. Its important to have the vac
system working, you may well loose power with the lack of multi rams and thus bugger your fuel economy and i cant beleive the vents are working properly. Vx dont spend millions on r and d for the fun of it.
Now you have your heat, go get an hbv after all you have proved its that at fault if nothing else... seriously mate.

I'm gonna wade in here and say well done keggy.

Our Omega has no aircon, and no HBV, so you've basically turned your car into another standard (albeit poor-man's) Omega variant.
Provided that you've capped off the vac pipe that went to the HBV.

Given the number of threads on here about HBV leaking/failing and no mention that I've seen of Vx (or anyone else) having produced a better design than the original, I'm surprised no-one else has 'thought outside the box' like this.

Just my tuppenyworth.
 :)

If GM had done their R and D properly we wouldn't be having this conversation/argument ;)
