okay, iv been having problems with my 2.5 recently... think i know why it's been missing on cylinders 3 and 5....cranked the engine over with a socket and it turns then gets stuck and to add to that i'v got sort of electrode splatters on the cylinder heads and some squished spark plugs lol but it looks like eg a female torx socket has fallen into the bores (i dont know how it'll have happened if it has lol)

anyway so i need to take the head off and retrieve whatevers in there but does anybody think maybe the pushrods have gone or big ends?

If it is something hardened like a socket then there could be severe damage to both piston and head. You wont know until you get the head off.

Post some pics once its in bits.

ok if i can be arsed to take the head off then i'll get pics,
i'm on about having a rumage around with a magnet on a long stick thing first (see if anything comes out)
i'd have thought that something like a socket would just bounce around and stay within the combustion chamber area rather than actually hit anything

Pushrods will be fine....as it does not have any!

On a more serious note.....do all the valve guides look to be intact (inlets and can be viewed with the heads on)

yeah mark all the inlet valves look fine looking between the two banks down the intake ports

oh well... if in doubt i can take the heads off and rag the bottom end out and swap for the spare i have

maybe a good time to swap to an ar35 too lol!

yeah mark all the inlet valves look fine looking between the two banks down the intake ports

Its not the valves....its the guide that you can just see poking out the heads.

I have had experience where some have cut corners on head re-builds following belt failures where new valves were fitted but, the guides were cracked...the result was an ingested lump of valve guide!

Which engine are you turboing btw, is it in a car? Need an update with more pics!!
