« on: 03 January 2009, 14:21:02 »

Just one simple question...............

Can the starter motor & alternator if faulty drain the battery while standing?

Thanks

If the circuits are left open on anything then the battery can be drained, but in my experience it is very unusual for the starter motor or alternator to do that whilst everything is turned off. ;)

All I have experienced is an alternator becoming faulty during driving and everything spookily cutting out as the battery drained all its power whilst trying to keep everything going! ::) ::)

I have seen the rectifier diodes in an alternator go leaky and discharge the battery.

2.6 we have done this but also had the problem with the alarm sounder going off at random times and got worse and worse, we think this was a short from that box under the scuttle tray, replaced and battery been ok since also alarm behaving now.
