Ashtray Stuck
« on: 03 January 2009, 13:07:14 »

I am trying to change the lights on the air conditioning console, taken out radio, but I cannot budge the bloody ashtray insert.  According to the Haynes Manual you just depress the plastic clip on the right handside and the ashtray insert should come out revealling the screws at the back.  I cannot get the ashtray insert out at all, an ideas as its doing my head in. Why is nothing straight forward.

I have litterally just taken the ashtrays out of both of my migs to repair the cig lighters.

Looking at the ashtray open just to the left hand side of the lighter itself there is a small grey tab that requires sliding to the right that will in turn release the insert. On one of my migs the tray did not spring up and had to be assisted with a small screwdriver under the leading edge and then it popped up.

Once this is removed you require a long philips screwdriver. Insert this in the half moon cut out at the top of the ashtray and you will eventually find one!!! philips screw at the back, unscrew this and give the whole unit a tug and it slides out!!  ;D
