is it me or are the mig headlights cobblers i have changed the bulbs for 50% brighter ones which have improved things greatly but they are still not great anybody else experiance this?do the lenses come off to allow the insides to be cleaned?

it's the omegas "candle powered" lighting.. you can either clean the lenses which means- you'll have cleaner very slightly better lights but still rubbish

you can swap to projectors that look very similar to the hids(and often confused with) which are quite alot better than the standard ones or
go for some proper hids from an elite but you'll need headlight washers and your supposed to have self leveling

The "Brasso treatment" made a major difference to mine, but they are still poor.  Apparently Osram Nightbreakers seem to make the best of a bad job on Migs.

I suspect that i'll probably upgrade to projectors at some point...

my projectors are cr-p too! and ive cleaned the lenses full beam ok dipped looks like candles! dont know what vauxhall were thinking sticking them poxy things on the front of a 30 bag car? spose it was something to put in the sales brochure !

I fitted the osram nightbreakers into my clear lens headlights today and  noticed a big difference over the phillips 50% brighter bulbs that i already had, so first check that your earth connections are all good and then try the osram bulbs. I think you will be pleased.

Same here, on my mini facelift CDX the projectors were crap. Replaced the bulbs with some 50% brighter ones and they were less crap but still not very good.

Now have an elite with HIDs and they are even worse than the CDX with the projectors. I need to raise the beam a bit hope this will help.

I think the rule is, if its an Omega it will have crap headlights no matter what they are.

You can fit aftermarket HIDs (I did) but making them completely legal is a bit pain as you need to fit also washers and levelers ..

I had the sam eproblem on my old Senator (now have Omega Elite with HID; brilliant - pun intended, ha ha).  

I measured the volt drop from battery to headlamp terminals - there was qute a voltage drop IIRC about 1V.  I used a relay to minimise this volt drop and it made a significant improvment.
