Hi Bob and welcome to the forum,

It sounds as if your ABS ECU is on its way out :(

Commonish fault .. as EP says .. ABS ECU is suspect .. theres info in the guides on it ..

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1152729807

When mine went on the old beast .. I had it repaired by BBA-Reman.

Worth giving them a ring on 01634 687222 and asking the latest prices ...

If you go scrappy route .. then the "donor" car must be same model/engine AFAIK

Welcome to OOF ..  :)

Does it also not have to be the same model year too?

Definately abs ecu on way out.  Expect to also get heavy steering as power steering is speed sensitive, also cruise wont work and some mid functions wont work.

Ideally yes - must be exact same spec if going 2nd hand route - else need to get it reprogrammed with Tech2.  Part nº is (sensibly!!) on bottom of abs ecu.

Expect to pay around £40-45 for used one.

Barsteward of a job (poor access) but well doable - I did the Estate this route.

Before condeming the ABS modulator try disconecting it and cleaning the electrical contacts of the connector and modulator with contact cleaner.
This may buy you some time. :y
