Central Locking - Intermittent Fault
« on: 06 January 2009, 10:37:55 »

Hi all,

My key fob works for a bit after recoding with the ignition then doesn't.

1.  Placed key in ignition, turned it, pressed the lock button 'til the central locking did their thing.
2.  Key fob then locks/unlocks the car for a bit.
3.  Less than an hour later the central locking doesn't work.
4.  The key itself works as it locks/unlocks all doors.
5.  All locks work when raised/lowered from within the car.
6.  Both red and green lights work when either button is pressed.
7.  I have changed the battery recently.
8.  The back cover is loose and currently held on by rubber bands!  However, even with the bands off the lights still work so don't think it's a battery connection problem.
9.  If it is key fob problem Vauxhall have quoted £85 for a new one including labour and VAT.

Any ideas?  My knowledge of car electrics is lacking, but the above symptoms seem to suggest that it might be a quick fix!  Hopefully...

Thanks,

FT.

Possibly a dry joint in the remote unit.....you could get a replacement remote off ebay and that with the car pass would allow a new remote to be programmed (swadlincote is not far from me)

Am I just looking for spare keys with a view to reprogramming them?  Just looking on ebay now and found loads of keys, look different from mine...are they 'blank' keys?

Just found this one ... item no. 170291099574.  I know from previous posts that you're not too far from me.  Can you reprogramme?

Ok...I know my remote is a two-buttoned Bosch RK 129 433.92 Mhz as per the following ebay listing numbered  - 370113179107 - However, the item looks the same and has the same above info on it, but in the small print it says to make sure the model of the car matches what they are selling.  Can anyone tell me if this would do?  I've got the car pass thingy so pretty hopeful.

Thanks, FT.
