I only moved it a fraction. The belt seems to be still lined up with all the markings so don't know if it has slipped or not.

Probably ok then. It won't move 1-2 until it goes tight around the top idler.  Just go steady and watch what's happening.

But then won't the timing be out?

Sorry first time doing a cam belt and I really can't afford to mess my engine up!!

only by the 1/2 tooth per Mark, which you can then adjust out with the idler after you have rotated it.

Think I had fitted the belt a bit wrong and then it had slipped.

The guys had to start again from scratch.

Just glad it is sorted!! :y
