outside temperature sensors
« on: 01 January 2009, 22:44:40 »

The external temperature no longer shows on the dash on my 2.5 CDX and the aircon has packed up.  Are these linked and could anyone please tell me where the sensors are so I can check/replace them if necessary.

Not sure on the Temp sensor issue, but the air con is designed to not activate below a certain temperature. I think it's 5 deg C.
Someone who knows for sure will no doubt confirm the exact cut off temp.

Lizzie Zoom said in another thread that the aircon cuts off if the outside temp is below 4 deg C. I would imagine if the temp sensor is so knackered that you're not getting an outside temp at all, the aircon will switch off to be safe.  :y

Hallo, I'm driving a 2002 facelift and recently my BC stops showing me otside temp. When I ran diagnostic it says that outside air temperature sensor is shorted to earth, but... I can't find the sensor  :( It isn't at the place shown on the picture above, in fact it isn't at the bumper at all(or i'm too blind) I checked both right and left corners as also the centre of the bumper but... :-? no sensor! Anyone have the idea where can i find it...??  :-/
PS. I looked at the "autodata" and it shows that the sensor is at the center of the front fan  :-? ... believe me it isn't there!

Thanks you Mark! I was really blind!  :o It was right there on the bottom side of the washer bottle and definitely it's out of resistance range. I found a suitable NTC thermistor and it will arrive at monday.  8-)
