loss of power speedo and dash

i am no petrol head so please bear with me if this is starightforward like the battery but driving today:

lost power accelerating
the lights come on airbag tc battery service etc
speedo/ ref counter packed up, momentarily comes back when braking.
turning headlights on causes digital display to dim


please help i would be very grateful!  i know penfolds will be happy to at a price though.....

Check the battery is charging by measuring the voltage with the engine running....

just an update for anyone with the same problem, it was the alternator gone.  seems to have sorted out the alarm problem too.
