« on: 18 January 2009, 11:30:57 »

Got a starting problem on my 2.2 DTi, can crank the engine first thing in a morning 4 or 5 times for about 5-10 seconds each crank and eventually it will start with an immense cloud of smoke...Once this has happened, can pootle down the road for 2 minutes and she's fine for the rest of the day !!!  anyone got any ideas ???  Some say Glowplugs others are saying injector leak off pipe !! :-/

are you waiting for the pre-heater light to go out on the dash - mine starts straight away if I wait for the light to go out or else it will take a few turns to start

I had something similar when I first got my car and the Vauxhall garage replaced an injector seal and then it was ok

Same happened with 2.2 diesel Etite, changed fuel filter, diesel filter, changed the fuel. My car also had a 'mis-fire' - yes I know diesels can't mis-fire, but it is the only way to describe the fault, Vauxhall dealer could not find the problem, anyway a HGV diesel Xperet sorted it with new 'injector seals', he said common fault after a few years or 60k miles.
