Hi all,

Myself and the old man were putting my cylinder head together and one of the pistons in the lifters is all soft.

I says that the lifter fills up with oil and goes hard when the engine is running. He say that its kaput.

There is also oil comming out of the little hole on it when pressed and I can't get a straight answer off the internets.

What sould it be like :-?

I believe that if you fill it with oil and block the holes then you should not be able to compress it. If you can under these conditions then it is worn an leaking.
If the holes are unblocked and you cant compress maybe they are siezed.

I am sure someone with more experience will be along soon.

I've taken two heads apart and most of them are like this I have 4 soft ones and 28 hard ones.

Do as per the guide.....you can repeat the process many times to flush them well.

When re-fited, done be surprised if they are noisey for 10-15 mins!
