Next week I'm going to arrange to have my miggy 3.2 estate fitted with stainless exhaust system (from cats back if this is ok)I need to get rid of the moaning exhaust note I got when I fitted a new GM exhaust,in June 2008. Which turned out to be superceeded from OE. Reason I think for utter shite quality.I would be most gratefull to hear of any points any of you think I should know about.I'm hopeing for a quiet exhaust note which Albatross said I could specify and indeed the supplying company said "No problem"    Cost

Let me know how it goes as i'm about to go down the same route with my replacement Omega as it has a shit noisy cheap crap loud rubbish exhaust on it..... the genuine one on my last Omega was sooooo much better.

Will be doing the same - from Cats back and was thinking of going to the same company as Albatross did as it looks standard and apparently is quiet below 4K.

Just need to sort a few other things out on it first before I sort the exhaust though....

Most likely an Eternal one in my case.   I can afford to replace that several times for the cost of a stainless job.

iirc Albatross s system was about 300 for hand made stainless. My Genuine was 311 with the odd nut and bolt, and by the sound of it, is the same quality as yours.
James v6 cdx had an eternall car as ians says for about 90 to the door i beleive.

But if you do go hand made as Albatross did, i would suggest adding extra O2 sensor bosses behind the main cats. Just in case you get the dreaded pre cat issue. Hth

More like £120 for the dual tail pipe (3L) one (they don't do a 3.2 but Kevin said his was ok).  I think Albatross' was £380 as I recall.

Agreed on the O2 bushes.  When I reset my EML it lasts a day and a half of commuting (40 miles) before coming back.

My memory fails me again then. If the eternal car is ok for Kevin(Wood) and James then its got to be worth serious consideration at that price.

Interesting thread.  Recently replaced my 02 3.2 exhaust with a GM system - nowhere near as quiet as the original (until it started to blow).  Cost a small fortune as well because it comes in 3 bits which totalled £400

I would say the Eternal system is very good for the money. It's not quite as refined as the OEM system and it excludes the stainless tail pipe trims but, given that OEM quality systems are not obtainable any more, it's the next best option.

Only other option worh consideration is a stainless system IMHO.

sounds good not to loud but expensive, ease to fit made by
jetex, well worth the money

I'll let you know how I get on,concerned about the extra 2 O2 fixing points behind the cats how do they locate? as I recall when I fitted the GM exhaust back in June there is already 2 sensors in each exhaust pipe run.Can I come back after I've been to Lifetime Exhausts and hopefully seen how the existing sensor situation is.May I also mention that my present system will be surplus to requirement It comprises of GM L+R centre sections, bosal back box (this has twin outlets with the original stainless outlets). Who made the original OE (good) VX exhausts, I thought it was bosal? Can we not get an original OE quality exhaust from somewhere like Eurocar parts?

You need to plug the existing lambda sensor bosses (get a couple of M18X1.5mm sump plugs) and weld some new ones on. It looks like if you add the bosses just after the flange, before the centre section turns towards the rear of the car and arrange the sensor to face forwards the connection will still reach.
