Ok, check for a spark. Remove a plug put the lead on it and put it next to the engine bracket on the head. Turn the engine and you should see/hear a spark. If so you should be looking towards fuel.

just a quick question... before you go buying a new everything basically, have you tried the paperclip test (putting a paperclip between pins 4 and 6 in the fuse panel in the 16 pin socket) to the left of all the fuses?

post up your results as often you can tell exactly whats gone for the fault code :y

 Hiya,
The eml light is not showing on the dash, so i get no fault codes. Well that is maybe 1 in 10 turns of the ignition will show a brief blip in the eml light. If i paper clip at that time i just get a continuos flash maybe once a second, this does not stop untill i turn the ignition off.
This morning i have discovered that if i disconnect the fuel pump connector in the boot (on top of the tank) i do not get the spurious rev counter readings or the chattering fuel relay. I am now thinking it may be a wiring or pump problem.....

Any one????

Boo,
Did you check for spark as advised earlier? If you have spark then it could be fuel problem.
I have had couple of non starting problems during the past couple of years.(But mine is the 2.5 V6 ) The one time it was my fuel pump. Garage charged me £150.00 for the pump alone + labour, Over £300 total, but that was before i found this forum and i am sure someone on here will advise where to get cheaper pump if thats your problem.

Good Luck.

Hiya M8,
I didnt check for spark,I should have done but i dont have a long reach plug socket, and they are burried in the middle of the block. Going to get a spark plug tomorrow and just disconnect the lead and plug in my new plug ;). that should do it. i think :o
Cheers for the reply. back again tomorrow??

OK, No spark. What do you think?? Immobiliser?
If i unplug the fuel tank elec connector, i do not get the dodgy redings on rev counter or chattering relay.
But i still dont get a spark.

  Anyone help?? >:(
