vacuum pipes
« on: 26 January 2009, 18:46:35 »

hi guys,
just fitted the rocker cover gaskets to my 2.5 everything went well
exept i've got a homless vacuum pipe at the rear of the engine.
this is where i throw a spanner in my own works, looked at the photos in the haynes manual, (granted not very good), and on this site and i'm still none the wiser. the pipe in question is the smaller of the two pipes from the breather unit, the photos look like this pipe goes to the rear of the inlet manifold, but the pipes fitted to that, one comes up from the purge valve, (i think i've identified it right), in the photos this pipe looks like it goes to the outside of the engine, one is a larger pipe that splits in two and the last one comes up from the gear box area.
its always been connected up this way, whether its been piped up wrong in the past who knows, but the pipe from the breather i cant for the life of me remember disconnecting it let alone where i disconnected it from, cant find any any signs of where it connects and i cant even listen for an air leek as she sounds like she's running on two and a half cylinders.
hopefully i've made sence out of this,
please help !!!!  :'(
thanks in advance
all the best
Bob

Right

Small pipe from the breather box on the back of the 1-3-5 head connects to the left of the small connections on the breather bridge (with ecotec written on it)

Second small pipe from the purge valve connects to the right one of the small connections.

The two large breather pipes from the large T'd breather hose connects to the two 'wingers'

The auto box breather dangles at the rear of the engine and vents to atmosphere
