footwells full of water (not scuttle drain)
« on: 30 January 2009, 18:57:17 »

After doing my quarterly scuttle drain check on the 3 migs that are kept outside, I found the elite had blocked and was spilling over the top of the fan casing. anyways fixed that and vaxed out the floor etc. The black CDX was fine in both respects, but.. The satin red estate had puddles in the footwells (only checked the car over last week) and the scuttle drain is clear and dry. so where the break has all the water come from?

The cold weather means the condensation on the inside of the screen is pretty bad due to not using the car at the moment, the inside of the sunroof is also soaking, so much so the water is coming thru the interior light!!

Im now suspecting blocked sunroof drainpipes, I know they go down the pillars, but does anyone know where they come out? the ones in the rear of the saloons drain out thru a gromet in the floor, but cant see in the estate.

cheers

It's your sunroof
Clear them carefilly using a piece of wire like your grandmother used to hang her net curtains on (fexible & plastic covered)
To check pour a small amount of water down afterwards
They come out somewhere in the wing & you will soon see it wetting the road if you've been successful!

it rains here most of the time, so the drive is already wet lol, Ill have a proper look tomorrowin the daylight and get something to clear the drains, the diameter pipe of the drains is quite big, and they are pretty strong as Ive removed them from breakers before to use as syphoning pipes  :y
